Each month, Family Services Center of Brownwood gives away a gift basket to a lucky recipient who has attended one or more parenting classes during the month. The winner of the Mother’s Day Basket was Grandmother Marie Fowlkes of Bangs. Fowlkes received a Keepsake box, Brighton wallet, Fancy’s Spa package, Mary Kay pamper package, Ralph Lauren romance gift box, jewelry and much more. Commenting after she received the basket, Fowlkes said, “I have really liked learning all the new, different teachings for today’s children. It’s not like when I grew up.”
The parenting program at Family Services Center teaches parents how to deal with the everyday challenges of raising children. The program is geared for parents of toddlers to teens, meets once a week for ten weeks, and is scheduled at convenient times for families. There is also a Spanish workbook and teacher available for Spanish speaking parents.
The next monthly give away will be a Father’s Day assortment of gifts including a travel bag, travel mug, beverage mug, candy, snacks, shirts, cap, books, 6 Abilene zoo tickets and a tool kit. The giveaway will be announced on June 13th for eligible recipients who attend at least one parenting class before the drawing date.
