A grandfather recently expressed his sudden awakening as he glanced at the photos of his grandchildren, while watching a news report on the 2012 Democratic Party Platform. The elderly gentleman’s brow wrinkled, beads of perspiration crept across his forehead, and his work-worn hands began to tremble.
In a flash, of understanding and anger, he realized the stark truth: that the Democratic Party which he had supported for years was ripping future happiness and opportunity from his grandchildren by (1) defining marriage as the union of homosexuals; (2) prosecuting an Arizona sheriff, two Texas border patrol officers, and three California policemen for arresting illegal alien criminals. (3) Filing charges of hate crimes against pastors and businessmen who defend traditional Judeo-Christian values; (4) arresting military personnel for defending fellow soldiers who killed insurgents in combat. (5) Spending 14 plus trillion dollars to pursue European-style welfare agendas; (6) prosecuting ranchers, farmers and communities for resisting the Environmental Protection Agency’s insane regulations to protect bugs, lizards, and birds from alleged extinction at the cost of plunging fathers and mothers into unemployment and poverty. (7) Provide hundreds of weapons to illegal Mexican criminals, then blaming US gun and ammunition dealers for violating federal laws.
“How could this happen?” he asked, as he clawed at his scalp in anguish. Then, he remembered that Democrat President Barack Obama grew up in a foreign country where schoolchildren did not learn about the Mayflower Compact, Paul Revere, Declaration of Independence, Constitutional Convention, Patrick Henry, The Alamo, or Omaha Beach.
The grandfather hung his head in shame and sorrow. Then, in an act of courage, he opened his wallet, removed his Democratic Voter Registration card and ripped it in half. He looked at the photos of his grandchildren and said, “I will do what I can to keep our country free for you to experience the great American dream.” He put on his hat and drove to the courthouse to change his party affiliation to Republican.
