The 2012 Gordon Wood Hall of Champions Induction Banquet will honor several former Brownwood Lions as well as others who made an impact on the team. Colby Freeman, Eddie Gill, Dallas Huston, Roy Spence and Bill Stovall will be inducted during the annual banquet. The banquet will begin at 6:00pm on Saturday, April 28th at the Coggin Avenue Baptist Church’s Coggin Connection Center.
The banquet will feature the induction ceremony with Dr. Don Newbury as the emcee and a BBQ dinner for attendees to enjoy. Tickets are $25 each or tables of 7 are available to be reserved. There are a limited number of tickets available so those interested in attending should secure tickets in advance. Tickets and sponsorships are available at the Brownwood Chamber of Commerce, KOXE and KXYL, the Brownwood High School athletic, and Smith and Sharpe Agencies located at 201 W Adams.
Another fundraiser, the Gordon Wood Hall of Champions 5K Run will be held earlier in the day, to begin at 8:00am. Sponsorships for the run are available for $250 (or sponsors may purchase a fun run sponsorship of the 5K and a banquet table for seven for $275).
Entry fees for the 5K run are $20.00 per individual or $25.00 entry fee on race day. Those registered after April 16th are not guaranteed t-shirt size. Runners must sign waivers on back of entry form for entry to be accepted. No refunds will be given even due to inclement weather.
Categories will be as follows: 10 & under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 & over. Awards will be given for the first three places in each age group for both male & female. Children 5 & under must be accompanied by an adult.
