The Brownwood High School Cross Country teams swept the Elk Run at Burleson with firsts in varsity girls as well as varsity and JV boys and competition on Friday.
Competing against schools up to 5A, the BHS teams won 2nd overall in the meet despite the heat of the day.
“I was very pleased with the teams. I thought we competed hard,” said Hood. “It was hot and humid. Not very good conditions to run in.”
All teams competed in longer than usual runs with boys in a 5K run and girls in a 2 mile; however the Lions and Lady Lions were up to the task according to Head Cross Country Coach Don Hood.
“The course was about 400m long for the boys and almost 800 long for the girls,” explained Hood. “That made it even tougher.”
