Although the Brownwood Lions already qualified for the Division II 7-on-7 football state tournament at last week’s qualifier in Stephenville, they showed why they are the defending champs on Saturday.
The Lions hosted the state qualifying round this week and dominated their three opponents in pool play. They took down Comanche 47-18, Slaton 60-6, and San Angelo Grape Creek 48-14 during pool play.
Bangs and Salado each qualified for the state tournament in the Brownwood qualifier.
This year’s Division II state tournament will take place on July 14-15 at Texas A&M campus. 64 teams will compete in the tournament. Brownwood will enter the state tournament as the 2010 7-on-7 defending state champs.
