GoodSamaritainMinistriesLogoTypically, November is a month in which people focus on giving thanks. December is a time to focus on giving back amidst the commercialism of the holidays.

“December always kicks off our year-end Spirit of Giving campaign where we encourage supporters to give back financially to the mission,” said Angelia Bostick, Executive Director of Good Samaritan Ministries. “Christmas is a time we celebrate God giving His Son, Jesus, who will eventually give His life. What better way to celebrate that than by giving of what we have to help others.”

To kick off the year-end giving campaign, Good Samaritan Ministries is participating in a global celebration of generous giving: #GivingTuesday!

Tuesday, December 1, is #GivingTuesday, an international day to encourage charitable giving by businesses and individuals around the world!

“Our project is called “Love Big, Give Big” and we are going to raise $10,000 in that one 24-hour period,” said Bostick. “We are so excited not only to participate in #GivingTuesday but to provide another opportunity for our community to support their friends and neighbors locally who are in need.”

On Tuesday, December 1, the Good Samaritan Ministries’ offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to receive donations at 305 Clark Street. Since this is primarily a social media-driven campaign, donations may also be made at goodsambwd.org.

“We want to encourage our supporters to be very interactive on Tuesday,” said Bostick. “Take a picture telling us why you gave and post it to your social media accounts.”

Bostick said if you send a copy of your picture to office@goodsambwd.org, they will even put it on their social media account.

“We want to generate as much excitement as possible about this day and we need your help to do it,” she said. “The more people know about what GSM is, who we serve and how we impact the community, the more families we can help.”

All donations made to GSM are tax deductible and 100 percent of everything given stays in Brown County to help local families at risk of hunger.
