GoodSamaritainMinistriesLogoGood Samaritan Ministries officially began October 1, 1993, to meet the needs of the underprivileged in the Brown County area.

Seventeen years, one move and several renovations and expansions later, GSM is still operating on the premise that began nearly two decades ago.  From humble beginnings at the Sunset Mission near Sunset Terrace Apartments to its home on Clark Street, the goal of GSM has always been to help local churches to fulfill their mission of proclaiming the Gospel in both word and deed to all people.

GSM has no big plans to celebrate this special occasion, just to continue to work to daily meet the needs of each and every person who comes looking for help.

Some of the programs GSM provides to the community include:

  • Food Pantry – providing perishable and non-perishable food to Brown County residents
  • Clothing Store – offer gently used clothing at low prices
  • Samaritan Aid – limited financial assistance for utilities and rent
  • Help for Health – limited financial assistance for medical, dental, prescriptions and eye exams
  • Baby Blessings – provide starter kits for new moms and their babies
  • Backpacks for Kids – provide kid-friendly, healthy food to chronically hungry children on Fridays during the school year
  • Disaster Closet – provide household items for victims of natural disasters or domestic violence
  • Christmas Food Boxes – offer food boxes full of all of the ingredients for a traditional Christmas dinner.
  • The Deer Project – hunters donate legally harvested deer to be processed and then distributed through the food pantry.

GSM would not have been able to serve in this manner without the love and support of our community, its churches, individuals and volunteers.
