Gloria Lee Robnett of Dallas, Texas, passed away on September 17th, 2012. She was born in Brownwood, Texas to Yantis and Elizabeth Lee Robnett on October 11th, 1926.
Gloria graduated from Brownwood High School. She was a 1947 graduate of Howard Payne University, a university founded by her great grandfather, Dr. John David Robnett. While at HPU, she was elected to the “Who’s Who” in American Colleges and Universities, as well as the Honor Society of Alpha Chi. She served on the HPU Lasso yearbook staff for two years and was the editor her senior year. Gloria was named one of the Senior Class favorites and as an Urbanite and BSU officer.
After Gloria’s graduation from HPU, she taught in West Texas for several years. She completed her Masters of Education degree in 1954 from the University of North Texas. Gloria continued her teaching career in Fort Worth and Highland Park schools.
In 1968, Gloria made a career change to counseling. She was named counselor of the year for Saar Personnel, Inc. for 11 years. She was honored by Dallas and Metroplex associations for six years for outstanding performance and accomplishment. Gloria was also an active member of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.
Gloria is survived by her loving brother, Dr. John Robnett and his wife, Marion. She was a devoted Aunt to her three nephews, John Jr, and wife Cheryl of Dallas, Texas, his children John Robnett III, Emily Robnett Haddock and her husband Johnathon and Rylie Robnett, David and wife Cindy of Brownwood, Texas and their children, Chandler and Connor Robnett and Mark Robnett and wife Sarah of Frisco, Texas and their daughter, Paige Robnett. She also leaves behind many beloved cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 8th, 2012 at Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Howard Payne University. Condolences may be left for the family at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com
