CARVERA memorial service for Gloria Jean Carver, age 73, of Brownwood, will at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 10, 2013 at St. John’s Church with The Rev. Michael Mobley, The Rev. Nelson Koscheski, and Deacon Patricia Banks officiating.

Gloria passed from this life on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Zale Lipshy University Hospital in Dallas following a brief illness.  “Granny Glo”, as she was known by many, leaves behind a legacy of love.

Gloria was born on June 23, 1940 in San Antonio to Jennie V. (Cheatham) and Lynn D. Carver, Jr., the eldest of three children.  She was a great lover of animals and would adopt any dog, cat, or other creature in need of a home.  Sometimes called “the dog lady,” Gloria could often be seen driving through town with her “herd of pups.”

Most of all, Gloria loved her Lord and her church.  A long-time dedicated member of St. John’s Church, she served many terms as Junior Warden and worked valiantly to keep the buildings and grounds in good order.  She will be greatly missed by so many.

Gloria is survived by her brother, Curtis Carver, her sister, Betty Jo (B.J.) Mayfield, both of Lake Brownwood, three nieces, Kelli Holland of Lake Brownwood, Jennifer Carver and Heather Bartholic, both of Austin, and a nephew, Shane Holland of Trickham; four grand nephews, Jonathan Holland, Max Chandler, Caleb Holland, and Carter Bates, Charity Holland, great niece, and Aiden Scott, great-great nephew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John’s Church.
