chamberlainGlenda Chamberlain passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Austin Avenue Church of Christ, 1020, Austin Ave. Brownwood, Texas.  Burial will follow at Cox Cemetery in McCulloch County.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Glenda was born on November 25, 1935 in Milburn to O.C. (Clinton) and Annie (Donahoo) Chamberlain. She attended her first two years of school at Elm Grove and then the family moved to Brownwood where she attended school at J.R. Looney, Central and North Elementary, She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1954 and then attended business school. Glenda was an avid Brownwood Lion fan and attended games for 70 years.  She was always dedicated to her jobs which consisted of bookkeeping, taxes and payroll clerk for Bettis and Gibbs, Weakley-Watson, South Park Pharmacy and Winn Pharmacy.

After 30 years of working for employers, she and Joy became partners in Chamberlain Bookkeeping and Secretarial Service in 1985.  She continued to work in the business until December 2011 when she was forced to retire due to her health.  The business continues to the present time.

Glenda was a faithful and active member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ. She loved studying the Bible and teaching children.  She loved Bible correspondence courses and reading religious books, accumulating a large library which is being passed on to the next generation. As long as it was possible, Glenda continued to attend worship services in her wheelchair.  She loved the Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; O.C. and Annie Chamberlain her brothers, Wayne and Gary Chamberlain.  She is survived by her sister, Joy Chamberlain of Brownwood and two Sisters-in-Law Helen Chamberlain and Brenda Chamberlain, also of Brownwood. She is also survived by her nephews, Jason Chamberlain and wife Debra of Huffman, Texas, Kirk Chamberlain and wife Melanie of Montgomery, Texas; her nieces Amy Carney and husband Shawn of Sugar Land, Texas and Amber Moore and husband, Brian of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She is also survived by 8 Great Nieces and nephews who were the love of her life. They are Brianna, Georgia and Mac Chamberlain of Montgomery, Jake Chamberlain of Huffman, Lily and Doug Carney of Sugar Land and Hayden and Weston Moore of Sapulpa, OK.

She is survived by numerous Chamberlain and Donahoo cousins and special friends for many years include Gene Bilbrey and wife Neva Lou and their sons, Chad, Jay and Garrett. Also Paul, Curtis, Michael and Jonathan Hayes along with Ed and Norma Enzor.

Memorial donations can be made to either the Children’s Ministry or the Youth Ministry of Austin Avenue Church of Christ, 1020 Austin Ave, Brownwood, 76801.

The family would like to express their thanks to Oak Ridge Manor for the excellent care given Glenda during the last 18 months.
