GladysRoachGladys Louise “Lucille” Roach, age 93, of Brownwood and formerly of Zephyr passed away Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Oakridge Manor in Brownwood.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Monday, December 6, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in the Zephyr Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm this evening, December 5, at the funeral home. Heartland Funeral Home of Early is in charge of the arrangements for Gladys “Lucille” Roach.

She was born September 5, 1917 in Zephyr the daughter of the late George and Florence Carter Priest. She grew up in the Zephyr community and was later married to James “Jim” Roach on April 21, 1937. She was an Avon representative for many years and a homemaker.


One of her favorite hobbies was cooking and she loved to cook and serve her family and friends in the Zephyr community. Many times she would cook meals and have her husband deliver them to families in the community. She had lived in Brown County all of her life, was a member of the Zephyr Church of Christ and had recently been attending the Early Church of Christ.

She is survived by

2 Sons – Jack Roach and wife Judy of Wimberly
Gregg Roach and wife JoAnn of Austin

A daughter – Sylvia Brewster and husband Charles of Rochelle

7 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren

2 Sisters – DeAlva Windham of Baird
Lee Roy Wagenfuehr of Floresville

She is also survived by her two special caregivers and friends Delores Moore and Nora Birdwell, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 Sisters, and 2 Brothers.
