GoodSamaritainMinistriesLogoTo kick off their year-end giving campaign, Good Samaritan Ministries participated in a global celebration of generous giving: #GivingTuesday.  Tuesday, December 1, was designated as an international day to encourage charitable giving by businesses and individuals around the world and GSM used the day to initiate their “Love Big, Give Big” campaign in hopes of raising $10,000 in a 24 hour period.

That goal was more than met, according to GSM Communications Director Misty Bowers.

“As of 7 p.m. Tuesday evening, Good Samaritan Ministries had raised more than $15,000 on Giving Tuesday.”

#GivingTuesday was primarily a social media-driven campaign, donations were made online as well as at the GSM office location, 305 Clark Street in Brownwood.  Donors were asked to take a picture telling why they gave and asked to post it to their social media accounts. Through these pictures, GSM hoped to generate as much excitement as possible about this day, spreading the word to as many as possible just what GSM is, who they serve and how they impact the community, so they can help more families with the donations received.

All donations made to GSM are tax deductible and 100 percent of everything given stays in Brown County to help local families at risk of hunger.
