turner3Gilbert “Aggie” Turner, 76, of Bangs, Texas, passed away at his home on Sunday, May 25, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Bangs. Pat Ray will officiate the services.

Gilbert Floyd Turner was January 20, 1938, in Palo Pinto County, Texas, to Coy Floyd and Lottie (Pope) Turner. He worked in the oil fields for most of his career and was known as “Aggie” by his friends. The nickname came to be because Gilbert spent some time at Texas A&M. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading any and everything he could. Gilbert was a very hard worker who always did what was needed to provide for his family. Gilbert absolutely lived for his children and his grandchildren as they were the greatest loves in his life. Gilbert was a loving husband, father, brother and son. He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

Mr. Tuner was preceded in death by his parents, Coy F. and Lottie M. Turner; his brother, Gaylord Turner; and his sister, Greta Sue Yockers.

Mr. Turner leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Claudia Turner; two daughters, Janice Garret and Cindy Turner; two step-sons, Diefer Gerstenberger and Robert Gerstenberger; a step-daughter, Rebekah Ellis; and two sisters, Loretta Yarbrough and Jo McWhorter.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the New Day Orphanage through the First Baptist Church of Bangs, Texas.
