BHS 2018 Homecoming Queen Nominees
The Brownwood High School 2018 Homecoming Queen Nominees have been announced: Naiyvee Perot, Khloe Tobien, Lakyn Ratliff, Caroline Cloy and Mallory Garcia.
Friday’s Homecoming game against Abilene Wylie has also been designated as the “Gold Game” for Child Cancer Awareness. Local childhood cancer survivors will be introduced on the field and they will present the opposing team with a friendship gift before the game. Fans are encouraged to wear some gold along with their maroon and white to show their support. In addition, the Lionettes will be passing the boot to “kick children’s cancer” during the 3rd quarter.
The Homecoming Queen Nominees are:
Naiyvee Perot is the daughter of April Perot and Joseph Brown.
Naiyvee is a 4- year member of Varsity Theatre, 12th grade Representative of the International Thespian Society, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, and a member of Lion Crew and Key Club. She is employed at Whataburger and Erma Jean’s Place. Naiyvee is also a member of Truevine Baptist in Coleman, TX. Naiyvee plans to attend Angelo State University where she will study performing arts (Musical Theatre) which will hopefully lead her to Broadway.
Lakyn Ratliff is the daughter of Bryce and Janet Ratliff.
She has two siblings, Stehl Ratliff and Lexxi Ratliff. During her years at Brownwood High School, Lakyn has participated in Varsity Track for four years, Varsity Soccer for two years, Varsity Volleyball for two years, and Varsity Cheer for two years. She is a member of the National Honor Society, HOSA, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and currently holds the position of Vice-President of the BHS Student Council. Lakyn is currently employed at the Runaway Train Café and is a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church where she is heavily involved with the youth group. After high school, Lakyn plans to attend Texas A&M University where she will major in business with a minor in interior design.
Mallory Garcia, daughter of Becky Garcia and the late Michael Garcia, is an active member of the BHS Student Council and National Honor Society.
She has received the academic distinctions of Cum Laude, Magma Cum Laude and Academic All District for 3 years. She is a 4-year Varsity Basketball and Golf member. Mallory excels in sports and has been recognized with top awards at all levels; Lady Lion, District, Region and State. She was selected TABC All Region Team for 3 years. Her junior year she received TAGC All State and participated in the All-star game. She was selected as All District Newcomer, Offensive MVP, and 1st Team in basketball and All District in golf. She was selected as the Lady Lion Offensive Player 2 years and Co-MPV in basketball and Most Improved and MVP in golf 2 years. Mallory has volunteered and coached in Players in Progress for 6 years and has also coached 6th-9th grade girls’ basketball for 4 years. She is a member of First United Methodist church and involved in the Impact youth program. Upon graduation she plans on attending Texas A&M University in the fall of 2019 and pursing a business degree.
Caroline Cloyis the daughter of Michael and Dana Cloy and sister to Caitlyn Cloy and Carson Cloy.
During her years at Brownwood High School, Caroline has participated in HOSA, Varsity Soccer, Student Council, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is currently serving as secretary of the National Honor Society. She is a third-year BHS Varsity Cheerleader and a fourth-year member of the BHS Varsity Track & Field team where she qualified for the Regional Track Meet in the 4×200 Meter Relay, the Triple Jump, and the 100 Meter Hurdles. Caroline will also be preforming in this year’s theater production of “Newsies”. She is a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church where she is active in the youth group. Through her church’s mission outreach ministry, Caroline was able to travel to Africa during spring break of 2018. After Graduation, Caroline plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in Elementary Education. Caroline hopes to continue her education and attend graduate school to become an Occupational Therapist.
Khloe Tobien is the daughter of Karl Tobien and Tina Wade.
Khloe is the President of the BHS Key Club and the Vice-President of the BHS National Honor Society. She has participated in Varsity Soccer for 4 years and has also been involved in track and cross-country. She is currently an athletic trainer for the football team. Khloe has also been an active member of the BHS theatre department. She is the event coordinator in the International Thespian Society and is involved in UIL debate and writing. Khloe is a member of the youth group at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. She plans to attend the University of Texas to major in Telecommunication Media Studies. She hopes for a career in political advertising or campaign management.
