votebuttonWith Election Day right around the corner, a rally will take place on Monday, November 1st from 5pm-7pm to encourage voters to cast their ballots on November 2nd in the state and county elections.

Organizers are asking to public to attend the “Get Out and Vote” rally at Coggin Park and to bring their flag, a Bible, and a chair as they celebrate the right to vote.

The schedule of events include the Pledge of Allegiance, singing of the National Anthem and God Bless America, honor and recognition of Veterans, patriotic music and singing, and speeches by Dallas Huston, Jim Morris, Judy King, Terri Tidwell, and more.  No candidates will be endorsed during the event.

“We want everyone to get out and exercise their right to vote,” said Bill Swindler, one of the event’s organizers.

Swindler said that the rallying cry for the group putting on the event is a quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer which says:

Silence in the face of evil is itself evil.  God will not hold us guiltless.  Not to speak is to speak, not to act is to act.
