Funeral services for Gene Henderson, age 80 of Lake Brownwood, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 13, 2017 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Ruben Packer officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 7:00.
Mr. Henderson passed from this life on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at his home.
Gene Lowell Henderson was born on April 25, 1937 in Wood County, Texas to Lewis David and Ollie (Stevens) Henderson. He served in the US Army for two years. He married Mina J. “Betsy” Sharp on March 7, 1956 in Wood County. Gene worked for Amoco as a field foreman for 24 years before retiring. He was a Mason, member of the Scottish Rite in Lubbock and the VFW Post in Kermit.
Gene is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Betsy Henderson of Lake Brownwood; a son, Gary Henderson and wife Lanette of Austin; four grandchildren, Meaghan Bostwick and husband Matthew, Tyler Henderson, Jason Wachsmann and wife Megan and Heather Keller and husband Matthew; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Wachsmann, Harry Wachsmann and Audrey Keller; two brothers, Bobby Henderson and Wayne Henderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son Jimmy Henderson in 2016.
