Howard Payne University announces the establishment of the Gates-Crawford Endowed Scholarship by Randy and Lynne (Ridgaway) Gates, of Charlotte, Texas.
This scholarship was established in memory of the late George W. Crawford and to celebrate the life accomplishments of family members dedicated to educating students. It is designated for students majoring in the School of Education. Recipients are required to maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
“We are grateful recipients of this newly endowed scholarship,” said HPU President Dr. Bill Ellis. “Investing in the lives of our students is a wonderful way to make a lifelong impact. HPU is blessed to have generous alumni like the Gates family who recognize the value in an HPU education and are making it possible for others to receive the same opportunity.”
Randy and Lynne are both 1969 graduates of HPU. Lynne’s sister Patsy (Ridgaway) Crawford and her late husband, George, are 1961 graduates. Both couples and all of their children have dedicated their lives to being educators.
