Local gasoline prices start to take a bounce this weekend as crude oil closed higher on Friday.
September crude oil closed at $68.05 per barrel on Friday. As a result, wholesale gasoline prices started to increase. Crude oil was up about $3 last week while it has had an almost $9/ barrel increase since the second week of July and analysts are seeing a trend that might continue in the short term.
As a result, consumers are starting to feel this at the pumps locally. There was a wide range of gas prices in Brownwood and Early Sunday afternoon as some stations and convenient stores bumped up their unleaded gas prices to reflect the market conditons, but a few have shown just a minor bump in price making a pretty wide price gap locally. Prices for Regular Unleaded ranged from $2.24-$2.42/ gallon, but many stations are expected to increase their prices as new gas shipments arrive during the week and stations pay higher wholesale prices.
According to Gasbuddy.com, the average price per gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Texas is $2.357 while one week ago the state average was $2.28.
BrownwoodNews.com will monitor the local and national gas prices and do a follow up each weekend. Feel free to post your gas price findings in our Forums section under Local News.
