IMG_6389Brownwood Area Community Garden is calling for volunteers, young and old, to participate in a Work Day this Saturday, January 22nd, from 10am to 2pm, to begin planting the orchard and berry patch.

A Work Day will also be held Saturday, January 29th. Beginning in February, Work Days will be the second and the fourth Saturdays of each month through November.

The Brownwood Area Community Garden is a nonprofit organization dedicated to growing fresh produce for area food pantries, providing garden space for area residents, offer educational classes on natural, sustainable gardening practices, and create employment and on-the-job training opportunities for low-income residents.

Last year, the Community Garden raised more than 3,000 pounds of fresh, naturally grown produce to area food pantries, provided gardening plots to 25 families and organizations, created seven part-time jobs, and offered a variety of classes.
