Brownwood News – Between 7:30 and 8:00 Friday morning, units of the Brownwood Fire Department responded to a fire on County Road 234 on the west side of town, not far from the entrance to Vulcan.
According to Brownwood Fire Marshal, Buddy Preston, the first call was for smoke in the 3300 block of Highway 377. “The second call was of a fire, possibly a trailer house. PD got here first and said that it was not a trailer house but it was a truck on fire close to a structure,” Preston said.
There was heavy damage to a 2001 Peterbuilt tractor truck. There was no trailer connected. “It is totally destroyed, it got the engine compartment and the driver’s compartment and the sleeper that was on back,” Preston said.
As for the cause, Preston said he feels reasonably sure it’s going to be an electrical short in the engine compartment. The truck belonged to a man from out of town and was at the location to have repairs done.
