Brown County emergency responders were sent scrambling as they responded to two motor vehicle accidents Friday morning.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., Brownwood Police Department and Fire Department responded to a two vehicle accident on US Hwy 377 at Chapel Hill Road where a collision had occurred in the outside northbound lane of traffic.
According to law enforcement on scene, the driver of the Pontiac Firebird RS noticed the railroad crossing lights to be flashing and stopped for a possible train when the Ford Expedition following directly behind failed to stop, rear ending the Firebird. The railroad crossing is being worked on currently and the lights had activited according to police.The driver of the Firebird was transported to Brownwood Regional Medical Center for treatment and evaluation of what appeared to be nonlife-threatening injuries according to emergency responders on scene. The occupants in the Expedition were reported to be uninjured according to law enforcement.
Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, a Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden, and Guardian EMS responded to the scene of the accident.
While emergency responders were working this accident, another two-vehicle accident with injuries occurred on Hwy 183N at FM 1467 just before 11:00 a.m. Although injuries were reported, all occupants were out of the vehicles as responders arrived to the scene and none were reported to be life-threatening.
Early Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and Guardian EMS responded to this second accident.
