As a continuation of the Brownwood Art Association Photo Group (BAAPG) photography month, the photo group will host guest photographer and speaker Mandy Lea on Saturday, October 22nd.
Lea is an accomplished photographer that has recently undertaken a new adventure and lifestyle.
“When I was 16 years old I walked into a camera store in Colorado and asked for a job. Despite getting my college degree in Chinese Languages and moving to China, I never left photography – or perhaps photography never left me,” said Lea on her website. “Little did I know that would be just the beginning of a 17-year career in photography stores.”
She further explained how she left her job and began her career in freelance photography.
“After spending the last 10 years at Precision Camera & Video in Austin, my wanderlust became unavoidable and I left to pursue freelance photography, live on the road out of my teardrop camper, and maybe learn a thing or two about life,” she stated. “I have an insatiable desire to explore and document the beauty all around us through photography. Every day we experience moments – whether secluded in nature or adventuring with friends – I strive to be present in these moments, to be grateful for each one. My camera allows me to create an artistic vision of these experiences. Through my photography and my journey, I hope to inspire each person I meet.”Lea will be talking about her adventures on the road and showing her photographs at the Art Center, 215 Fisk Avenue, starting at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 22nd. Come early and get a seat upfront. Mandy Lea’s website is
