Well over 100 area residents attended the Freedom Rally Saturday morning on the north steps of the Brown County courthouse where they honored God, country, and those who served in the military.
Former minister Bill Swindler said he organized the rally after he heard about a group of high school students who were not allowed to pray on the steps of the Supreme Court.
“The purpose of the rally is to proclaim in our town square that God is first,” Swindler said.
Those in attendance participated in singing of patriotic songs and the recognition of local veterans. Most waved their American flag and clutched a bible while they participated in the event.
Swindler said, “The constitution guarantees our freedom which is given to us by God.”
