Freddie Jackson 63, went home to her heavenly resting place Thursday January 17, 2013 in Brownwood. Service will be held Saturday January 26, 2013 at 1:00pm at Greater Faith Community Church; visitation will be Friday 6pm to 8pm January 25th at the church. Freddie was born in Jonesboro, LA; August 8, 1941 to the parentage of Booker T. Leonard Sr. and Josie Mae Evans.
Freddie grew up in Dallas and attended public schools there. She has resided in Brownwood since 1974. She worked for Brownwood Manufacturing for 30 + years she also worked for Shaw’s Laundry for many years. Freddie was a member of Greater Faith Community Church.
One of her favorite places was the kitchen; she loved cooking and creating new recipes. Freddie was a very friendly person who enjoyed getting out and meeting new people. Freddie loved shopping for others especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the rain fall.Left to cherish her memory are her husband Michael Jackson; sons Henry Jr. (Tonya), Fredrick Smith (Torcia), Kerry Smith (Annette); stepson LaMichael Bridge; her daughters Tammie Smith, Terrie Berry (Jeff); brothers John Mitchell, Booker T. Leonard Jr., Charles Leonard, James Leonard; sisters JoAnn Evans, Carolyn Leonard, Ruth Leonard, Ruby Leonard, Maggie Leonard; former husband Henry Smith; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Josie Leonard, father Booker T. Leonard Sr, grandson Marcus Smith, and her nephew Dexter Leonard. Services are under the direction of Brownwood Funeral Home and Cremation.
