Funeral services for Frank Valdez, age 72, of Brownwood, will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home. Cremation will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
Frank passed from this life surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, December 16, 2018, in Brownwood, after a lengthy illness.
Frank L. “Poppy” Valdez was born on January 20, 1946 in Leon, France to Esteban “Steve” and Catherine (Dumas) Valdez. He attended Santa Anna schools and McMurry University. Frank married Mary Roberson on December 6, 1979 in Coleman. He owned and operated Frank Valdez Fencing for many years. Frank enjoyed breeding and raising show pigs, being at every kid and grandkid event that he could and watching The Weather Channel. Frank attended the Austin Avenue Church of Christ.
Frank is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Mary Valdez of Brownwood, children, Kami Brown and husband Chris of Oregon, Darrell Broyles of Comanche, Parker Valdez and wife Sonya of Midland; six grandchildren, Kennedy Brown of Oregon, McKenzie Welker of Brownwood, Scottie Broyles of McKinney, Justin Valdez of Brownwood and Fredrick and Blayke Valdez, both of Midland; siblings, Steve and wife Bettye of Brownwood, Ray and wife Margie of Brownwood, Raymond and wife Jennifer of Early, Ruben and wife Toni of Snyder, Danny and wife Brenda of Brownwood, Marty and wife Donna of Rhome, Jimmy and wife Terri of Bangs, Juanita and husband Ron Ichy of Lampasas, Suzy and husband Dennis Traweek of Bangs and Linda and husband Will Buchanan of Copperas Cove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Valdez and a sister, LeRay Valdez.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to the Brown County Youth Fair Association, PO Box 1101, Brownwood, 76804-1101.
