Graveside funeral services for Frank L. Gardner, age 88, of Abilene, formerly of Zephyr, will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, September 6, 2010 in the Ebony Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Gardner died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Frank was born on October 2, 1921 in Rotan to Melvin and Florence Reinhart Gardner. He attended school at Pioneer and married Pauline Ivy in 1942 in Eastland. She died in 1968. Frank worked as a roofer for Lydick Roofing in Midland for 20 years. He moved to Zephyr and later to Abilene in 1993. He married Daphine Walton on September 10, 1994 in Abilene. He was a member of Oak Street Baptist Church.
Frank is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sheridan Gardner of Brownwood, three grandchildren, Shane, Seth and Shannon Gardner, all of Brownwood, two step-sons, Henry T. Walton of Dallas and Jerry Bob Walton of Abilene, a brother, Wayne Gardner and wife Bobbie of Midland, and two sisters, Verna Dean Childers, and Lela Mae Tyler, both of Abilene, and a sister-in-law Katherine Gardner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two spouses, a son, Donnie Ray Gardner, a sister, Dot Lott and two brothers, Merle and Eldon Gardner.
