Frank Duane Conger was born February 10, 1924 to Tom Fred and Ida Pauline Conger in Sterling City, Texas.  Mr. Conger entered his heavenly home on January 22, 2019 at the age of 94 years old in Abilene, Texas.

            Frank grew up in Sterling City, Tennyson and Roscoe.  He graduated High School in Roscoe.  A WWII veteran, Frank served as a mechanic for the Army Air Corp servicing and repairing transport planes and B-17 while stationed in Iraq on a British base.  He earned the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, EAME Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and 3 Overseas Service Bars.  He was discharged in 1946 as a Cpl.

            Frank graduated from Hardin Simmons University earning a Bachelors Degree in Business and Accounting.  He worked for Fields and Sharp Cotton Brokerage in Lubbock starting in 1950. In 1956, He became the Jr High coach and 7thgrade teacher at May School, May, Texas. He remembered all his students and enjoyed hearing from them through the years. In 1957, he returned to Lubbock as the Office Manager for Indian Head Grain Company and Western Gin in Lubbock.

            On May 6, 1950, Frank Conger married Edith Virginia Walker.  They were married for 59 years until Edith’s passing in 2009. Their daughter, Deborah Jean, was born in Lubbock in 1952.

            In 1967, Frank moved his family to Zephyr, Texas to farm and ranch.  For over 32 years, the Conger Turkey Farm raised turkeys, while, also, raising sheep and cattle.  Frank was a member of the Zephyr ISD School Board, the Brown County Farm Bureau, the Brown County Tax Appraisal Board and the Zephyr Water Board.

            Mr. Conger was an active member and Deacon at Zephyr Baptist Church.  His leadership and generosity was felt by many folk in the Zephyr Community and the Brown County area.

            Frank Conger was preceded in death by his wife, Edith, his parents, Tom Fred and Pauline Conger, his brothers, G. W. and L. E. Conger and his sister, Tommie Fowler.

            He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Conger) Riley and husband, Pat Riley. Also, granddaughter, Amanda (Riley) Richards and husband, Chris, of Brownfield, a grandson, Kyle Riley of Zephyr and granddaughter, Deidre (Riley) Hood and husband, Reed of Zephyr.  Great granddaughters, Bailey, Taylor, Bella and Katie Richards. Also, Riley, Addyson and McKinley Hood. Great-granddaughter, Kinsley.  He is, also, survived by many nieces and nephews.

            Frank loved his Lord, his family and friends. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He had an extremely strong faith and sense of right and wrong. He was ready to go but enjoying life each day he had.

            Funeral services for Frank will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Zephyr Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.

            Memorials can be made to the Zephyr Baptist Church or the Gideons.
