Frances “Fran” Adell Holcomb, age 86, of Stamford, Texas formerly of Cherokee passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.

Graveside services will be held Saturday June 15, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Colony Cemetery, with Brother Tim Reither and Brother Keith Lemons officiating.  Services are under direction of Blaylock Funeral Chapel of San Saba, TX.

She was born August 19, 1926 in San Saba, Texas, the daughter of John Fletcher Day and Maggie Joe Means.  She was a homemaker and a business owner in Monahans, Texas, where she did tailoring and alterations for several years.  She was a Girl Scout Leader for two different troops.  She directed, for two years, the raising of money for one of the troops to go to New York City to the World’s Fair. 

She was a member of the Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher.  She was a very active member in her church.  She loved working for Mary Ann Perry of Cherokee at the nursery.  She also loved to paint using several different mediums.

She is survived by one son, Jack McDaniel of Blooming Grove, Texas; two daughters Laquetta Graves of Dallas, and Pam Reither of Stamford, Texas; one special step-daughter  Pat Mc Elroy of Red Oak, Texas;  three grandchildren ;  two great grandchildren ; and one great great grandchild

Fran is preceded in death by her parents; four sisters Johnnie Barker, Mary Gage, Ruth Pope, and Bernice Millican.
