Frances E. Barnett Cox, age 63, of Bangs died Saturday morning at the North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills, Texas.
She was born December 11, 1946 in Brownwood the daughter of the late J. W. and Gussie Lee Lewis Barnett. She attended schools in Brownwood and later at Texas State Technical College. She was married to Larry Smith on April 27, 1962 in Brownwood, and later married Donald J. Cox on December 9, 1977 also in Brownwood. He preceded her in death in January of 2009.
She was a lifelong resident of Brown County and had worked as an administrative professional and bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of Trinity Chapel in Early. She enjoyed working on genealogy and doing craft projects and will be greatly missed by her many loved ones.
She is survived by a daughter, Alicia Cockroft of Bangs 2 Sons – Dale Smith of Bangs and Randy Smith of Plano
2 Step-sons – Danny Cox of Clarksville, Florida and Willie Cox of Goldsboro, N.C.
5 Grandchildren – Danny Smith of Bangs, Josh Smith of Brownwood, Joe Smith of Bangs,
Sadonia Gallander of Bangs, Alanis Smith of Brownwood,
2 Great Grandchildren also survive.
She is also survived by 2 Brothers – James Towery of Brownwood and Gus Barnett of Weatherford
3 Sisters – Tressie Patterson of Comanche, Opal Foster of Early, and Brends Armstrong of Brownwood.
Numerous Nieces and Nephews also survive
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald J. Cox, 2 Brothers, Jackie Barnett and Joe Barnett, Sister, Virgie Dudley, and Step-son, Jerry Cox.
