Four Howard Payne University men’s soccer players were honored with 2011 American Southwest Conference men’s soccer awards, the ASC office announced on Tuesday after a vote of the league’s head coaches. HPU’s Shane Cazad was named Offensive Player of the Year.
Shane Cazad was named ASC Offensive Player of the Year and 1st Team All-Conference after leading the conference with 13 goals, including four game-winners. He also dished out four assists.
Jaime Benitez received 1st Team All-Conference honors scoring five goals and dishing out a team high eight assists. He finished second in the regular season in total assists in the ASC.
TJ Mayfield gained 2nd Team All-Conference honors anchoring a HPU defense that had two shutouts and held their opponents to a .099 shot percentage.
Kyle Huesing was on the 3rd Team All-Conference list after starting 14 matches at goal keeper for the Jackets. Huesing logged over 1,100 minutes in goal and recorded 78 saves.

Leslie Jones was named 1st Team All-Conference as a forward scoring a team high 15 goals (3rd in the ASC). She recorded two hat tricks and also had five assists on the year. She was named to the ASC All-Tournament team as well.
Kassey Nix was named 1st Team All-Conference as a defender. She was a part of a defensive unit that recorded eight shutouts. She was named to the ASC All-Tournament team as well.
Lauren Hankins-Hatcher received 2nd Team All-Conference honors as a midfielder. Starting in all 17 games, she scored two goals and recorded three assists.
Adrienne Walker, 2nd Team All-Conference goal keeper. She started 14 games and recorded 67 saves. She was directly responsible for two of the HPU shutouts on the year.
Shannon Costello was named 3rd Team All-Conference as a midfielder. She led HPU in assists with eight placing her in the top ten in the ASC. She also was second on the team in goals scored with six.
Becky Lamar was named Honorable Mention All-Conference at defender. Starting in all 17 games, she helped the HPU defense to eight shutouts on the year.
