Original Story: A two-vehicle accident on FM 2632 near Lake Brownwood injures four, two with very serious injuries, according to Texas Department of Public Safety officials.

Brown County emergency responders were called to the scene of a head-on collision at a curve on FM 2632 on Wednesday morning.  According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Michael Sams, a white Chevrolet pickup was traveling north on FM 2632 when it approached the curve (just before the Mountain View area) approximately a mile north of Rocky Hill Road.  The pickup was reported to have failed to maintain a single lane, crossing fully into the oncoming lane of traffic where it collided with the Toyota Sequoia which was traveling south.

A father and daughter were in the Sequoia, the male driver was reported to be in very serious condition.  The female was reported to be in good condition with a broken arm.  Both occupants of the Sequoia were transported by Guardian EMS ambulance to Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Two men were reported as occupants of the Chevrolet; the driver was reported to have very serious injuries and was transported by Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.  He was reported to have suffered chest and facial injuries along with a broken leg.  The male passenger was reported to have suffered a broken leg, but was in good condition, and was transported to BRMC by ambulance.

FM 2632 is under construction; Texas Department of Transportation is currently applying a seal coat to the roadway and is expected to be complete by Friday evening.  This construction was not a contributing factor to the accident according to TxDOT officials and Trooper Sams as the area where the accident occurred was not an area of loose gravel.   TxDOT officials on scene stated that although construction signs are present, vehicles continue to travel too fast on the roadway.

“We are seeing way too many people going too fast, they are always in a hurry,” stated the TxDOT official.  “We try to post enough signs to warn people, but some don’t recognize the signage posted.”

He stated that with a seal coating such as this, motorists should not exceed even 55 mph and use caution as there are areas of loose gravel as the signs warn.

Trooper Sams is investigating the accident with Trooper Tyler Moses of Coleman assisting.

Texas Department of Public Safety, Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Brownwood Volunteer Fire Department, Brownwood Fire Department, Guardian EMS and Air Evac Lifeteam responded to the scene of the accident.
