According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, officers responded to a motel in the 600 block of Early Blvd regarding an aggravated robbery at approx 9:30pm. The victim, a 40-year-old Brownwood man, was assaulted by several individuals in the motel room and left unconscious according to police. The victim was transported to BRMC by Guardian EMS due to injuries he received during the assault and was later transferred to Scott and White Hospital in Temple due to severe facial fractures from being repeatedly kicked in the face, Mercer stated.

Mercer said that EPD Officer Amanda Williams had suspect information broadcast to all local agencies to be on alert for 2 male subjects along with the vehicle involved. The victim also provided partial names of the suspects because he had met them a couple of days earlier when they had a room next door to him.

According to Mercer, at 11:40pm BCSO Deputy Brandon Arnold located the suspects at a convenience store in Brownwood.  When Deputy Arnold activated his lights on his patrol car, one of the vehicle occupants began making movements in the vehicle said Mercer.  It was discovered that the suspect, 20-year-old Tanner Glen Chamberlin of Coleman was destroying and hiding evidence of marijuana, Mercer reported.

Brownwood PD also arrived and assisted at this location Mercer explained.  Three other individuals in the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Teresa Renay Russell White of Brownwood, 21-year-old Alyshia Michelle Winstead of Early and 20-year-old Christopher Norred of Blanket, were all detained and questioned regarding the robbery, according to police.

Mercer explained the assault as follows:

“Sgt. Shawn Dibrell and Officer Amanda Williams questioned the individuals and learned that Chamberlin and Norred knew that the victim had approximately $400 cash on him. All 4 of the suspects went to the motel to rob the victim of the cash.  Chamberlin and Norred went in the room under the assumption of they were all renting an apartment together.  Chamberlin kicked the victim in the face when he bent over to get something.  Chamberlin then kicked the victim several more times knocking him unconscious.  White and Winstead waited in the car parked in a car lot nearby.  They all then fled the scene and bought a carton of cigarettes and some beer and gas.”

HardmanCrishaunaAccording to Mercer, Sgt. Dibrell and Officer Williams then went to an apartment of 25-year-old Crishauna Nicole Hardman of Brownwood (pictured left) to question her about the suspects coming by her apartment and giving her some of the cigarettes, marijuana and some cash. While the suspects were in the apartment with Hardman, they all smoked methamphetamine, stated Mercer. A bag containing a small amount of methamphetamine and some marijuana was located in the residence said Mercer who explained that this drug use was done in the presence of Hardman’s 3-year-old daughter.

Crishauna Nicole Hardman was placed under arrest at that time and faces charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (a 3rd degree felony); Possession of Marijuana; and Child Endangerment (a State jail felony).  Hardman is currently being held in lieu of bonds totalling $26,500.
