University of Texas Police Department arrested former Brownwood Lion and current UT Longhorn defensive back Kenny Vaccaro for assault.

Police reports indicate that late last month, Vaccaro and another UT student were playing basketball and were throwing basketballs at each other along with several other students.  Reports say that the other student threw a basketball that hit Vaccaro in the ear.  The student that thew the ball told police that Vaccaro then punched him in the face.

Vaccaro missed practice on Tuesday to deal with the issue which is classified as a Class A misdemeanor.

UT coach Mack Brown issued a statement on Tuesday saying, “We’ve talked to Kenny and his family, and pending the completion of the legal process, will do what’s best for the University, Kenny and the team.”

Vaccaro primarily plays on special teams. He has nine tackles and earned the team’s “Hard Hat” award for hardest hit after his performance against Louisiana-Monroe. He’s currently listed as day-to-day after suffering a leg injury.
