The Erath County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a murder investigation at a Stephenville home where a former Brown County resident was found dead.
According to the Stephenville Empire Tribune, 56-year-old Jeff Sewalt was found dead at his home in Stephenville Friday afternoon with a gunshot wound to the head.
The Texas Rangers have been called in to assist in the investigation and no suspects have been identified, according to the Tribune. The victim’s girlfriend reported the incident to law enforcement in Stephenville.
Sewalt is a former longtime resident of Brownwood and the Brookesmith area and moved to Stephenville in recent years. Many relatives of the Sewalt family reside in the Brownwood area
