According to the Victoria Advocate:
A Bloomington teacher and coach was in Victoria County Jail on Tuesday night after being arrested on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a student in Brown County.
Joe Townsend, a teacher at Bloomington Junior High and an assistant volleyball coach at Bloomington, was arrested at school Tuesday afternoon on charges of indecency with a child (sexual conduct) and improper relationship between an educator and a student.
Townsend was taken into custody shortly before Bloomington opened District 30-2A volleyball play against Odem.
The charges are second-degree felonies and carry a prison sentence of two to 20 years and up to a $10,000 fine if found guilty.
Townsend came to Bloomington at the beginning of the school year after teaching and coaching last year at Brookesmith, a Class 1A school located near Bangs in Brown County.
