Brownwood News – The first round of the Fore the Kids Fall Shootout at Brownwood Country Club is in the books. The tournament benefits the Heart of Texas Children’s Advocacy Center. Highlights from Round 1 are as follows: (courtesy All Pro Tour website)
Andrew Presley (Fort Worth, TX) got off to a hot start. Presley was 7-under through his first nine carding five birdies on the front and also added an eagle on the par-5 hole three. Presley finished his first round at 8-under par and holds a one shot lead after the first round.
Brad Brunner (Land O’ Lakes, FL) had a solid round shooting 7-under par. Brunner carded two eagles, four birdies on the round, and just one bogey.
Matt Henson (Austin, TX) continued where he left off in Victoria last week, carding eight birdies. Henson finished his first round at 6-under par and sits in third.
Round two began at 8:00 A.M. Wednesday morning starting off of No. 1 and No. 10 tee.
In operation since 1994, the APT, a subsidiary of K&G Sports LLC., partners with local non-profits to conduct professional golf tournaments in the mid-south region of the U.S. In addition to raising thousands of dollars each year for charity, these events provide an avenue for professional golfers to hone their skills while preparing for a life on the PGA Tour.
APT has successfully graduated players to the PGA Tour. They include PGA Tour winners Mark Hensby, J.L. Lewis, Tim Herron, Cameron Beckman, Bubba Watson, and Ryan Palmer. Several former members have also earned their privileges to the PGA’s Web.com Tour; including Web.com Tour winners Scott Sterling, Ron Whittaker, Shawn Stefani, Edward Loar, and J.J. Killeen (2011 POY on the Web.com Tour).
APT currently conducts professional golf tournaments in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.
