HoltFordFord Holt, age 93, of Bangs went to be with the Lord and Savior, Sunday, May 8, 2016 at a local nursing home.

Ford was born on the Holt Farm, 3 miles southeast of Santa Anna, Texas on November 8, 1922, to William Franklin and Jessie Lee (Williams) Holt. He was the 6th of 7 children in a close knit family. He graduated from Santa Anna High School 1940. Ford loved music and played the French horn in the school band. He recently received an award from Santa Anna High School for being the oldest living member of the Mountaineer Band.

Ford enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII on October 31, 1942. During leave, August 24, 1943, he married Bangs girl, Willene McGaughey at the preacher’s house in Coleman, Texas.  He went on to serve the war effort as an airplane mechanic in Cerignola, Italy. He was honorably discharged in September 9, 1945.

He lived in Santa Anna, Coleman, Bangs, Stephenville, Plainview, Anson, Snyder, Abilene and Brownwood. He worked driving trucks for Halliburton; selling menswear at JC Penney, R & M Clothiers, Minters and Montgomery Ward; and selling cars at the Bud Gray Pontiac House and Weatherby Ford.  He enjoyed driving, fine clothes, and new cars. His longest career was with 3M Company in Brownwood, where he worked full time and part time for 35 years until he was 82.

Ford is survived by his children, Glenn Holt and wife Debbie of Brownwood, Lynn Holt and wife Judy of Denton, Janice Harvey of Brownwood, Becky Sloan and husband Jon of Round Rock; grandchildren, Juli Smiddy and husband Mike of Allen, Kris Holt and wife Patty of Lavon, Richard Holt of Houston, Pam Holt of Irving, Michael Harvey of Austin, Stephen Harvey and wife Shannon of Abilene, Brian Harvey and wife Christi of Goldthwaite, Carly-Will Sloan of Memphis, TN, and Nan Sloan of Fort Worth.  Ford also was proud to have 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Williene Holt; parents, William F. and Jessie Holt; sisters, Frankie Swafford, Virginia Austin, and Juanita Leigh; brothers, Welton, Carroll, and Roger Holt; and grandchildren, Lacy Holt and Robert Holt.

Funeral Services for Ford will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Paul Blake officiating; private family interment will follow at Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
