The Brownwood/Brown County Health Department reminds area residents that they still have influenza vaccine available.
“We would like to encourage anyone who has not had a flu vaccine this season to come in and take advantage of this opportunity to get immunized against the flu,” said Donna Miller, the Health Department’s Immunizations Outreach Nurse in an email.
So far, this flu season has seen an increase in influenza-like illnesses over last year, according to health department officials.
Cost of the flu vaccine for adults is $20. For children with insurance that covers flu vaccines, the cost is $20. For children who qualify for state-funded vaccine, the cost is $15.
No appointment is necessary to get a flu vaccine.
The Brownwood/Brown County Health Department is located at 510 East Lee Street in Brownwood, and is open from 8:00-11:30am, and from 1:00-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
