“He fills my life with good things.   My youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” Psalms 103:5 NLT

Floyd Wayne Miller left his earthly home to go be with Our Lord and Savior on January 22, 2017.    Born on December 4, 1938 to Jesse Leonard and Roberta Eva Freeman Miller in Ranger Texas, he proved to be a handful until joining the Air Force on February 14, 1956.

In the Air Force he learned to follow in his father’s footsteps of being a mechanic.   This in turn led him to his career of being a truck driver which began with Merchants Fast Motor Lines.  He was a member of their union rising to the position of treasurer.  He moved from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Abilene while working for Merchants.   After retiring from Merchants, he moved to Brownwood.  Not being able to leave the road behind and because of his love of trucking, he went to work for his good friends, Joe Don South and Tom South at Joe South Trucking in Clyde TX until his health once again forced him into retirement.

Wayne had a life-long love of going to the coffee shop to drink coffee and talk with his fellow coffee shop buddies.    He was also a member of the Lake Brownwood Lions Club.   Wayne always stopped to help a person in need and made sure all of his family and friends were taken care of.   If he had something you needed, he would give it to you.   And if you sat with him long, he would share you with all his trucking stories.

Now that he is young again and free to fly, he is reuniting with those who preceded him in death—his parents, his brothers Ray and Joe, and his sisters (the biggest contributors to his being a handful as he was the youngest whom they babied) Nadine, Georgia and Merlene.

Left behind to celebrate his life are his wife of 57 years, Sandra; his daughters—Michelle Loyd and husband Terry, Melissa Davis and husband Scotty; his grandchildren—Michael Loyd and wife Amy, Stephen Loyd and wife, Tiffany, Codi Bruner and husband Kevin, Jessi Loyd, Kelly Loyd, Mark Loyd; his great grandchildren—Michaela Loyd, Sabrina Loyd, Ryan Bruner; many nieces and nephews; many longtime friends.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM today at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the service to follow at 2 PM.  Burial will be at Greenleaf Cemetery.
