Floyd Elmer Gay, age 89, of Coleman, died Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Holiday Hill Nursing Home.

He was born March 7, 1930 in Clear Creek, Arkansas to Floyd Gay and Irene Talley Gay.   Elmer attended several different schools and then graduated from Novice High School in 1948.  Following his high school graduation, he joined the United States Navy, where he served his country for four years and received an Honorable Discharge.   He worked for AT&T as an equipment installer and retired after 25 years of service.  Elmer moved to Coleman in 1997 from Arkansas.  He married Bennie May Rathmell Hail on November 21, 1997 in Tuscola.  Elmer was a Baptist and attended the First Baptist Church in Coleman.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Bennie Gay of Coleman; his children, Ronnie Gay, Vicki Millsap and husband Cliff, Robbie Gay all of Hobbs, New Mexico; several grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Barbara Blevins of Hobbs, New Mexico.
