James Floyd Dennis, Jr., 65, of Gustine, died Saturday January 16, 2010, in a Carrollton, Texas hospital. A family memorial service will be held privately at a later date.

Floyd was born January 18, 1944, to James Floyd and Hazel (McVay) Dennis, Sr., in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in and attended Tom W Field and Thomas Jefferson High School at Dallas. Floyd met Paulette Carson and they were married April 4, 1969. Floyd worked for a steel foundry in Dallas as Supervisor and a machine operator. He lived in Gustine since moving there in 1983.

Floyd enjoyed race cars, owning one and working on it, traveling to many on the dirt track events in south Tarrant County and nearby tracks. Hunting was also a favorite pastime for Floyd. He volunteered his services to the Gustine Fire Department many years, the Gustine Riding Club Rodeos, and was an avid “inspector/taster” of the coffee at the “Git & Go” in Gustine.

Floyd is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paulette; sons, Jaden and Dustin Keeter; close family members, Michelle and Terry Keeter; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, James and Hazel Dennis.
