Memorial services for Floyd Collins, 78, of Brownwood, will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, July 1, in the Netherton Funeral Home Chapel. As he had requested, his body will be cremated under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations.
Mr. Collins passed away on Friday, June 29, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Temple.
Floyd Garner Collins was born on August 21, 1933, in Batson Texas, to Clarence Huey Collins and Ruby Edna Jordan Collins. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an MP, and on September 22, 1955, he married Patricia Ford. Together they made their home in Dayton Texas for 47 years before moving to Brownwood 10 years ago. He was a member of the Brown County Lions Club and enjoyed playing Bingo.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Sunnie and Edward Frye of Point Blank Texas, Fred Collins of Liberty, Jo Nan and Kirk Rogers of Shepherd Texas, Jay Collins of Dayton Texas and Kristi Collins of Brownwood. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Ford Collins on October 18, 2010; one brother and two sisters.
