Flossie Moore French, age 89, of Coleman, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Coleman County Medical Center. A service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, at the Valera Cemetery Pavilion with two of her grandsons, Grady Sanders and Matt French, officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Flossie Doris Moore on March 24, 1927 in Cameron, Texas, the daughter of William A. Moore and Tina Ann Snider Moore. She grew up in Valera and attended school at Centennial, graduating in 1946. On August 24, 1946 she married Raymond French in Talpa and he preceded her in death on September 17, 1994. She lived in Coleman most of her life, except for a few years in Plano, where she worked for the Plano ISD in the cafeteria and as a bus aide. In Coleman, she worked over twenty years as a nurses’ aide at Holiday Hill Nursing Home. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Coleman where she kept the nursery for many years. Flossie was also active in and served as an officer in the TOPS Club for a number of years. She loved flowers and even while living in the nursing home, she took care of the flower bed in front of Coleman Healthcare Center. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many gifts for her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Billy French and wife Lena of Duncanville, Bobby French and wife Dorothy of Brownwood, Ricky French and wife Debbie of Brazoria, Sheila French of Abilene, daughter-in-law, Jeanne French of Coleman; twelve grandchildren, Meredith Sutton, Casey French, Grady Sanders, Billy Michael French, Bobbie Shifflett, Delbert French, Matthew French, Johnnie French, Connie Withers, Cody French, Cameron French, Cole French; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd Moore of Coleman, R. D. Moore and wife Joyce of Sweetwater.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, Jack Moore, and a son, Randy French on March 4, 2015.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
