Funeral Services for Florence Broad, age 100, of Brownwood, will be held at 2:30 p.m. November 3 , 2010 at the Union Presbyterian Church in Brownwood with Mary D. D’Alessio officiating, interment to follow in Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Davis Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Broad passed away Sunday evening at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Florence Tweenett Broad was born on August 28, 1910 in Blanket, Texas to George Pomeroy Stewart and Elizabeth (Bennett) Stewart.
She lived in Brownwood since 1918 and attended Brownwood High School and Daniel Baker College. She married Jack Broad on January 26, 1936, they owned and operated Greenwood Office Supply, he preceded her in death in July 1976.
She was a longtime member of Union Presbyterian Church where she was an active member of the choir for over 50 years, Women’s Work, Bible Teacher, and Sunday School Teacher, sponsor of the young people as well as the first women Deacon and Elder. Florence also served on the State Synodical Board for Presbyterian Women, A charter member of the Rotary Ann Club, Brownwood Country Club member, board member for the Women’s Association, along with serving on the board of the Brown County Humane Society.
Florence is survived by a niece, Jackie Hutson and husband David of Arlington; great niece, Carrolyn Abbott and husband Les and their children, Kayleigh and Joshua; great nephew, Carrol David Hutson III and children Courtney and Andrew; along with numerous friends and church family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jack Broad.
