cowboycapitolrollerThe Cowboy Capital Rollergirls are at it again. Support your local rollergirls and “flock” your friends and family. Surprise them with a yard full of bright, pink flamingos. It’s all in good fun and for a great cause – the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls Travel Team Fund.  For a $20 donation, you can have a small flock of the infamous plastic lawn ornaments migrate to the household of your choice in Brownwood to help support the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls. Or, order a large flock and turn the lawn into a sea of pink. When you order a flocking, the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls Flamingo Patrol will deliver the birds to the designated unsuspecting yard, usually arriving unnoticed, under the cloak of darkness. What a fun surprise the next morning.

Remember, friends and family may look to flock your yard as well. You can join in the fun or you can flock-proof your yard. If you want to make sure that a flamingo flock does not land in your yard you can purchase Anti-Flocking Insurance for only $10.

“This event was a huge success last year,” said fundraiser coordinator Edith Luna (aka Little Tank Lulu). “We had husbands surprising wives, mothers surprising children… all in support of our travel team.” The travel team has a full schedule for the 2014 season now as a WFTDA (Women’s Flat Track Derby Association) full-member league with several required travel games as part of ranking requirements, so every donation helps get the team’s travel.

Flamingos will take flight beginning on the very special evening of Valentine’s Day February 14th and will fly around the Cowboy Capital until the kickoff of the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls 2014 Season on March 15th. Orders will be taken beginning January 16th and ending February 13th. Book early- flamingo flocks will be scheduled out in the order they are received.

Make a list of friends and relatives you want to flock. Get them before they get you! You can get more information and place your order by visiting the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls website fundraiser page at www.cowboycapitalrollergirls.com/fundraisers.html.

The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls is a 501(c)3, not-for-profit organization. The league relies on contributions from the public as well as sponsors not only support travel for the athletes who represent the Cowboy Capital in competition, but also to provide training and assist in the development of Cowboy Capital Junior Roller Derby. All donations are fully tax-deductible where permitted by law.
