The Friends of Greenleaf have placed flags on the graves of more than 1300 Veterans who are buried at Greenleaf Cemetery to honor their memory this Veterans Day. It is the organization’s goal to honor each and every Veteran at Greenleaf by placing a single flag at every Veteran gravesite.
Friends of Greenleaf raised funds and purchased new 12×18 cloth flags in 2011 to use for this recognition each year.
There will be a brief ceremony at the flag pole in the cemetery on Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. to honor these Veterans. Les Beasley, a retired Marine Corp officer, will play Taps. The public is welcome to attend.
