Guardian EMS staff distributed 70 first aid bags to Brown County Law Enforcement agencies Wednesday morning at the Brown County Law Enforcement Center.
Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Brownwood Police Department, Bangs Police Department and the Brown County Water Improvement District Lake Patrol were presented bags filled with first aid supplies to carry in each of their patrol units. 70 of the bags were distributed at the LEC by Guardian EMS representatives.Guardian EMS Development Manager Jimmy Trowbridge stated that the donation to these agencies is a way for the agencies to support each other.
“As days go on, a public servant’s job seems to be getting larger and larger,” he explained. “These are for use in the community or when an officer who comes across an accident or shooting. It’s a part of being team players with all of the emergency responders.”
Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller explained that in extreme situations, such as a shooting, EMS personnel are not able to come on scene right away because they might be injured and are unarmed. In these cases, one officer may be aiding a fellow officer or victim until the scene is secure.
Trowbridge stated in an earlier presentation that the bags will enable law enforcement to begin first aid before an ambulance can arrive, if necessary, helping to speed up the process of transporting a patient to a hospital for further medical treatment.
Each of the bags is stocked with standard first aid supplies and is monogrammed with the agency initials.
