Brownwood News – A friendly reminder was posted Friday morning to the Brownwood Fire Department Facebook page. The sell or discharge of fireworks in the city limits of Brownwood is prohibited 365 days of the year. “Every year we respond to fires caused by the illegal discharge of fireworks in the city. The purpose of prohibiting fireworks is intended to protect the safety of our community and residents.”
It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale or exhibit for sale any fireworks of any character within the corporate limits of the city.

It shall be unlawful to discharge, or cause to be discharged, any fireworks within the corporate limits of the city; however, a professional fireworks exhibition performed by a licensed and insured pyrotechnic operator who has obtained a public display permit from the state fire marshal may be permissible, if the display and display site are approved by the city fire marshal.
