Brownwood News – About 5:00 am Wednesday morning, June 26, the Early Fire Department responded to a house fire at 7900 County Road 292.  The location is a rural area several miles southeast of Early, down Jenkins Springs Road.

According to Early Fire Chief, Chad Hill, the home had mostly burned to the ground by the time firemen arrived.  They brought the remaining flames under control with the help of a backhoe operator who removed tin from the log cabin type home, allowing firemen to reach the flames.

Brownwood Fire Marshal, Buddy Preston, is investigating and trying to determine what caused the fire.  He tells us the owners of the property live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.  The unoccupied home is more of a weekend getaway.  Preston said the fire was discovered by an employee of Comanche Electric Coop who was responding to a power failure reported at the home at 3:44 am.
