The Brownwood Fire Department with assistance from the Early Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of Avenue C on Wednesday afternoon just off of Vine Street.
Brownwood Fire Chief Del Albright said that a large storage building behind the home caught fire and was completely destroyed along with part of another nearby outbuilding. Albright said that firefighters arrived to find a man attempting to put out the fire with a garden hose.
The fire threatened nearby homes due to high winds, but it was brought under control before any of the homes were damaged.
Albright said that high winds blowing a power line caused arcing that was the probable cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
